Since being established in 1983, Casey Construction has built an unrivalled reputation for its excellence in erecting steel portal frame agricultural buildings, and slatted court flooring. Although the firm has expanded over the years and developed expertise in a broad range of construction disciplines, agricultural work remains a central part of the business.
Casey Construction was the first firm in Orkney to install concrete suspended passageways, and slatted court floored cattle housing. Since then, we have fabricated and erected more steel portal frame sheds and buildings in Orkney than anyone else. These installations range from general purpose and barley sheds for farms across the islands, to huge commercial units, and a specialist hydrogen store for the innovative renewable energy organisation EMEC, including protected ducting for the store’s cable network.
One of the things that sets Casey Construction apart is the company’s ability to fabricate the metalwork for steel portal frame projects at our own workshop. For some projects, trusted partners on the mainland are commissioned to create the steel frames, but the bulk of the fabrication work is done by our own team in Orkney.
Casey has installed buildings from relatively small agricultural sheds to much larger buildings, including the 53m x 36m indoor arena at Orkney Riding Centre at Stromness. The firm is also experienced at replacing roofs on agricultural buildings, specialising in more complex projects.
Often several adjacent buildings require re-roofing at the same time with many valley gutters adding to the complexity. Casey’s flexibility and fabrication capabilities allows the firm to find solutions for even the most complicated projects.
As well as fabricating steel frames, Casey’s team also produces cattle slats. The steel frames are fabricated in the Casey workshop, before they are filled with concrete and installed in situ. This leads to a high-quality product which has the advantage of sitting directly over slurry tanks with a greater capacity for handling waste.
Over four decades Casey Construction has built a wide range of agricultural buildings all across Orkney, and has an excellent reputation. Our fabrication capabilities and expertise sets us apart, and we're able to construct steel portal frame buildings of any size.
As well as creating sheds for agricultural use, Casey's experienced team has delivered commercial buildings for transport and logistics firms, and specialist stores for high-tech industries.
